Sehr köstlich!

Lunch at TJ House with colleagues

It was a hectic day today. What’s on the list? Board of Examination meeting for all Diploma lecturers at 9.30am, followed by a staff meeting, followed by lunch at SS18 for all School of Communication staffs, before I head to Dr Irene’s makan-makan session at Taylor’s Business School at 3pm.

The Board of Examination meeting was just like the usual. Not much comments about this - It’s my second time attending the BOE meeting, hence I consider myself “experienced” this time around. The meeting took about 2 hours.

After the BOE (and a 2 minutes toilet break..) we were joined by more staffs for the staff meeting. Plenty of interesting issues were discussed and I suppose many could’ve been discussed further, but due to the fact that most people in the room was starving (including myself!!!), we proceeded to SS18 for lunch.

The lunch was actually held for couple of reasons:
1. As an appreciation for all the hard work from SOC staffs throughout the year - time sure flies.
2. As a farewell party for 2 colleagues that are leaving us. Wish them all the best for their future undertakings.
3. As a welcome party for 1 colleague that will be joining us. Welcome to the club!

Lunch was at TJ House (the map given to us was WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!!!). The shop looked shabby from the outside, but in the inside, it gave a very cozy sort of feeling. Romantic lighting, flowers, little knick-knacks displayed at many corners of the shop, statue of angels hanging on the wall.

“Italian cuisine?” I asked.

“German.” My colleague answered. “The soup is good.”

“It tastes like curry.” I replied.

“The soup doesn’t taste like curry!!!” she almost wanted to kill me.

If the soup didn’t taste like curry, I came up with the following conclusion: The curry I ate all along actually tasted like German mushroom soup.

The lunch was a pleasant experience, to eat with everyone in the school, making small chats and talking about things other than work. Everyone stuffed themselves full with some duck, beef, noodles, dessert and the curry tasting soup.

Last event of the day was at Taylor’s Business School. Just a small gathering for staffs that contributed to the Teaching and Learning centre throughout the year. I have been quite involved lately, having conducted 4 Photoshop workshops for staffs so far (it was an exciting experience). I was too full from the German food I had, so I didn’t eat the food (the cheese tarts look tasty). Met few familiar faces, got to know some new faces. Like the SOC lunch gathering, this gathering was just as fun.

That’s all the update for today. I still have another makan-makan held for all the annual dinner dance participants. I thought the episode was over (since annual dinner ended so long ago), but apparently it isn’t.

I think I am going to be fat after all this makan-makan ordeal.

PS: The title above meant “very delicious” in German. No idea how to pronounce it, so like it or not, I’m just going to assume it’s pronounced as “Sir Kostleek”.

NONE, NADA, ZIP, ZILCH
